The long-awaited road realignment project at an accident blackspot between Dunmore and Tuam is to go to tender.
A number of collisions have occurred in recent years at Twenty Minute Hill on the N83 Dunmore-Tuam road, and traffic lights have been in place, reducing traffic to a stop/go system, for the past year and a half.
Tuam-based Minister for Rural Affairs Sean Canney says Galway County Council will publish the tender for the road realignment in the coming weeks, with works to begin later this year.
