A change should be made to the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme so employees are not left with a big tax bill at the end of the year.
That’s the view of the Big Red Cloud, a company that supply online accounts software to the SME market and service over 75,000 businesses.
Their CEO Marc O’Dwyer claims that changes to the scheme fail to address that workers will have to pay tax on the subsidy payments at the end of the year.
He says some employees of businesses availing of the scheme may have noticed discrepancies in their pay due to the refunds triggered by the scheme.
Speaking to Midwest News today Mr O’Dwyer called on the government to provide the subsidy as a grant, to avoid people getting a tax bill of as much as €2,000 at the end of the year.
