A Mayo Fianna Fail TD has slammed the Government for allowing rents to spiral out of control.

Lisa Chambers says a recent report from Daft.ie shows that rents have now increased for 13 consecutive quarters.

Rent increases in the Connacht region are among the highest, with Galway seeing a 15.5% increase and Mayo an 11.9% increase.

Deputy Chambers believes this hike is colossal and says the rental sector is out of control.
