One person is due before the courts, charged in connection with a number of recent burglaries in the Castlebar area.

Gardai have confirmed that, of 15 burglaries reported across Co Mayo this month, 8 occurred at business premises in Castlebar.

Superintendent Kevin Gately of Castlebar Gardai is appealing to business owners to take every precaution to protect their property - including installing CCTV and alarm systems, locking up securely and not keeping cash on the premises.

Superintendent Gately confirmed to Midwest News that a person is due before the courts charged in connection with some of the recent burglaries in the county town....
