Irish Rail has confirmed that €1 million will be spent on the freight yard in Ballina this year.

Ballina freight yard is already the second-biggest in the country, operating 24 hours per day, 6 days per week.

The €1million investment will allow the renewal of the railway tracks, and safeguards the future of the freight yard according to Mayo FG Senator Michelle Mulherin.
