Almost €1.2 million has been allocated for 11 rural towns and villages in Co Mayo, under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme.
The Minister for Rural & Community Development Michael Ring says the benefit of previous funding under this scheme is being felt in towns and villages across rural Ireland, giving an example of the new Pope Francis Plaza which opened recently in Knock village.
Funding of between €40,000 and €200,000 has now been allocated for 11 projects across Co Mayo.
