One of the 9 candidates putting forward their names for the Fine Gael selection convention in Sligo / Leitrim has withdrawn.
Eddie Mitchell from north Leitrim - who was prominent in the anti-fracking campaign - has decided not to seek a nomination, saying he has not spent enough time meeting the party leadership.
That leaves 8 candidates seeking a nomination to contest the next general election in Sligo / Leitrim - including former Minister of State John Perry, and Roscommon Senator Frank Feighan.
The convention takes place in the Clayton Hotel in Sligo on Thursday evening.
