 Mayo county council is the first local authority nationally to appoint a full time Sports Tourism Officer.

The new post has been filled by well known, county and club GAA footballer Donal Newcombe.

Donal addressed the monthly Mayo County Council  Special Policy Committee on Tourism and Food in Turlough House and outlined his vision to make Mayo  the Sports Tourism Capital of Ireland.
