The remains of missing Castlebar man David Gavin have been recovered from Kinbasket Lake.
In a statement this morning the Irish Sporting and Social Club in Vancouver confirmed that David’s remains were recovered from the lake. Water levels had reduced greatly in recent weeks to allow a search to resume.
David’s family and girlfriend Ciara were at the lake during the search and have thanked the public for their continued support.
David got into difficulty after jumping from a logging bridge over a river estuary that flows into Kinbasket Lake last June.
He and some friends were en route to a football tournament in Calgary, Alberta, when they stopped off for a swim.
The Castlebar man was living and working in Canada at the time.
