A minute’s silence was observed at the start of today’s monthly meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District as a mark of respect to the late Brendan Heneghan, a former Mayor of Castlebar.
Mr Heneghan died suddenly in February at the age of 53.
He served as a Fine Gael member of Castlebar Town Council from 2003 to 2014 and served twice as Mayor of Castlebar during that time.
Also at today’s meeting, newly co-opted Sinn Fein Councillor Joe McHale was welcomed to the Castlebar Municipal District – he replaces Terése Ruane who recently retired from the local authority after 8 years as a public representative.
