
A young Garda, who died while on duty at Clifden Garda Station, will be laid to rest on Thursday.
Garda Shane Cuffe from Woodlands Park, Moycullen, who was in his late 30’s, was found by colleagues in Clifden garda station at about 7am yesterday morning after working the night shift.
His tragic death is not being treated as suspicious, and it’s believed he may have suffered a heart attack.
Garda Cuffe was a member of An Garda Síochána for 13 years and had served in a number of Garda stations in Mayo and Galway.
He was a nephew of Acting Garda Commissioner Dónall Ó Cualáin, and is survived by his wife Eimear, two young sons Conor and Evan, his mother Anne, brothers and extended family.
His remains will repose at Aiséiri, Moycullen tomorrow (Wed) from 4pm to 7pm.
Funeral arriving at Galway Cathedral on Thursday for 12 noon Requiem Mass followed by burial in Moycullen Cemetery.
