A Mayo Senator says she wants every effort made to bring Pope Francis to Mayo when he visits Ireland in August.
Fine Gael Senator Michelle Mulherin says she would like to see the Pope’s visit extend beyond Dublin and would love to see him at Knock Shrine, especially as it is nearly 40 years since the historic visit of Pope John Paul II.
Senator Mulherin says it would be a boost for people in the west to see the Pontiff visit Mayo.
She told Midwest News that she has called on the relevant authorities to do everything in their power to make the visit happen.
