Details

The Mayo Fine Gael selection convention will take place later this evening.

Four candidates are putting their names forward to represent the party in the next general election.

Current Minister Michael Ring, Senator Michelle Mulherin, Cllr Patsy O’Brien and former Mayo footballer Alan Dillon are those seeking the nominations.

Fine Gael has not confirmed how many will be selected but it is believed three candidates will go forward to contest the four seater Mayo constituency.

The convention gets underway at 7pm this evening in the TF Royal Hotel in Castlebar.
