New Antrim Street in Castlebar has reopened to traffic today following a fire at the Ivy Hotel this morning.
Three units of the fire service attended the scene after smoke was spotted coming from the Ivy Tower Hotel, formerly known as the Welcome Inn, this morning. Smoke was spotted coming from the hotel after 8am this morning. Fire crews arrived on the scene within minutes of being called and evacuated the hotel.
It appears that a fire broke out in the kitchen area of the hotel. It has now been contained and nobody was injured in the incident.
Two units of the fire service remain at the scene but the road has reopened to traffic.
