The icon of the World Meeting of Families is visiting a number of parishes in the Archdiocese of Tuam this week.
Archbishop Michael Neary welcomed the icon to Tuam Cathedral at a Mass on Friday evening.
The icon – which was unveiled at Knock Shrine last August – is meant to encourage reflection and prayer as part of the preparations for the World Meeting of Families, which takes place in Dublin next August.
The icon will be in Glenamaddy this evening and tomorrow, Carraroe on Wednesday, Ballyhaunis on Thursday and Friday morning, before moving onto Westport on Friday afternoon and Saturday and arriving in Castlebar on Saturday evening until Monday.
Petition boxes will also be available to take petitions from local families.
