
A generator has now been connected to the Kiltimagh water treatment plant by Mayo county council and Irish Water.
There has been no public water supply in the town or the surrounding areas since the area experienced an extensive ESB power outage yesterday evening during storm Eleanor.
Water Supply to the town should be restored by early afternoon.
This morning the local authority put in place a water tanker at Supervalu in Kiltimagh - to provide the public with water.
Kilkelly and Westport public water supplies were also affected for a time after last night's storm, but Mayo County Council say both supplies have now been fully restored.
Iarla Moran, Senior engineer with Mayo county council water services told Midwest News this lunchtime that a water supply to Kiltimagh town should be back shortly, however, until the ESB supply is restored outlying areas are likely to continue to experience water outages.
