To mark National Water Safety Awareness Week, which is now underway, Water Safety Ireland based in Galway has sent wristbands to every primary school explaining Lifeguard flags.
With over 300 people being rescued by lifeguards on Irish beaches every year, they say it's vital that every child knows what the lifeguard flags mean, and where it's safe to swim.
The initiative urges people to swim safely in areas where lifeguards are on duty over the Summer.
