As a gaa coach at St. Colman’s college Claremorris he managed the 1977 all conquering senior team to win the Hogan Cup , which was a record at the time as it was unheard of for a day school to win same . The community of St Colman's College, Claremorris, would like to extend its sincere sympathy to the family of Canon Martin at this very difficult time. He spent many years in the College as a teacher and was later Principal from 1981 - 1989. He was a regular visitor to St Colman's in recent years and was always interested in the further development of the school. He continued to have an abiding passion for sport, especially College's football and he always maintained a keen interest in how St Colman's teams were doing in league and championship.
