Excitement is building at Sligo Airport, Strandhill as it prepares to host the spectacular Sligo Air Show on the last Sunday of this month ( 28th July).
Some of the most talented Irish, international pilots and aerobatic formation teams will perform during the family event. In a first of its kind in Ireland, a spectacular airborne fireworks display by the Firebirds will take place on Saturday night (27th July).
The Air Show will feature a dramatic display by the Royal Jordanian Falcons - flying Extra-330 LX aerobatic aircraft. Another thrilling performance will be provided by Team Raven flying RV8 aircraft, painting shapes across the Sligo skies.
Crowd pleasers - the AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers – will be performing handstands and acrobatic maneuvers strapped to the wings of two Boeing Stearman bi-planes.
Spectators will have the chance to take to the skies themselves on a flight with Executive Helicopters from Sligo Airport throughout Sunday. Tickets can be purchased on site on the day.
As well as the thrills in the sky there will also be lots to enjoy on the ground with a vintage fun fair for children and a vintage car display for motor fans. Visitors can also amble through the Sligo People’s Market featuring 60 stalls selling food & drink, art & crafts, plants & herbs and clothing & jewellery.
Both the airshow and the airborne fireworks display are fully ticketed events. Tickets can be booked at https://www.sligo.ie/event/sligo-airshow-2024/2024-07-28/
