Fine Gael councillors in Mayo will meet shortly as a group to give their viewpoint to more senior party members on who Fine Gael might go into coalition or alliance with to form a new government.

Killala based councillor Jarleth Munnelly says it’s important that the ten councillors  meet and give their opinion, not just on any new coalition, but also on what happened that the party lost a seat in the Mayo constituency.

He said the loss of outgoing deputy Michelle Mulherin is disappointing and people on the ground want to know what happened.

Speaking to Midwest News today councillor Munnelly explained that it’s the parliamentary party of Fine Gael that decides on who the party would be willing to work with in a new government.
