Over 100 people are being diagnosed with cancer every day in Ireland.

The Irish Cancer Society says the disease is now at epidemic proportions.

Today is Daffodil Day, and there will be volunteers out  across the region selling daffodils in an effort to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Organisers hope  to raise 4 million euro  today for vital research.

Dr Robert O'Connor, Head of Research with the Irish Cancer Society, says there have been a lot of breakthroughs in treatment for the disease.
