Norah Newcombe Pieterse led Mayo AC runners home with a brilliant win in the 38th annual Streets of Galway 8k Road yesterday evening.

She has a great record in this race – third in 2023 in a new PB 28:40, and in 2019 she finished 4th in 29:05. Norah has not raced very often this year, but she did show excellent form back in late March when she won bronze W40 in the National 10k in 37:04.

She was delighted to finally win the race this evening crossing the line at the Claddagh in 30:15. Second was Ciara Foy 30:19, third Kate Collins Smyth 30:57

The race starts at The Claddagh and winds its way through the city’s streets, following a course out around Salthill, before taking in the promenade on the way to the finish in at South Park. There were over 2,600 finishers in a warm and sunny atmosphere.

Well done to Mayo AC’s other finishers :

Tony O’Malley 30:00 : and a new 8k pb!

Gvido Roze 34:53

Dee Finnegan 35:59

Ann McDonnell 36:42
