Ireland’s crunch World Rugby U-20 Championship game in South Africa against Australia has been cancelled.

Torrential downpours and strong winds in Cape Town have forced tournament organisers to call off the Pool B deciding match.

Both teams have been awarded two points which means Ireland top the pool on 11 points and advance to the semi-finals.

However, it means that Ireland miss the chance to bid for top seeding in the semi-finals which take place on Sunday.
