The Mayo U14 Girls make the trip to the University of Limerick on Saturday next, March 9th where they face off against Wexford in the All Ireland Inter League Shield Final.
This is the girls seventh competitive match this season and following on from the group stages they came up against a very strong Kerry side in the quarter final in Umbro Park, Milebush on Saturday January 20th. After Mayo going into the break a goal up thanks to Ava Mitchell, Kerry came out in the second half a lot more determined and pulled a goal back midway through the second half before Caoimhe O'Donnell scored the winner in the last minute of the game.
Onto the Semi Final and thankfully for the Mayo ladies it was another home draw, this time the girls from Louth made the trip to Castlebar on February 10th.
The Mayo girls came out of the blocks flying and thanks to Caoimhe O'Donnell and a hat trick from Emily Coleman, the girls went into the half time break four goals to the good.
Louth pulled a goal back in the second half but it wasn't enough to stop the Mayo girls from booking their place in the Final.
The Mayo squad is made up of girls from twelve different clubs around the County which is a credit to the work been done with girls soccer in Mayo both at club level and at county level.
