Siobhan McCrohan took gold in the Women's Lightweight Single Scull at the World Rowing Championships in Belgrade.

The Galway native had only returned to the sport this year after a seven-year hiatus.

Earlier in the day, Alison Bergin and Zoe Hyde secured Olympic qualification by placing second in their Women's Double semi-final.

They'll race in Sunday's A-final.

Daire Lynch and Philip Doyle are also heading for Paris next year after a second place finish in their Double Sculls semi.
