Irish swimmers claimed three golds and a silver on the opening night of the European Under-23 Championships.

Sligo's Mona McSharry won gold in the 50-metre breaststroke at the National Aquatic Centre.

Ellen Walshe won the 200-metre Individual Medley, and then took silver in the 100-metre Butterfly.

While Ireland’s hat-trick of golds was completed by Daniel Wiffen in the 15-hundred metre freestyle.
