Mona McSharry is through to the semi-finals of the 100m individual medley at the World Short Course Swimming Championships.

In doing so the Sligo native became the first Irish woman to swim the event in under a minute when coming third in her heat in 59.65, beating her own Irish record of 1:00.34.

The semi-finals in Abu Dhabi are scheduled to begin from 3:05pm, Irish time.
