The FAI were forced to dramatically put the brakes on a return for elite underage football.

Matches involving under-13 to under-19 age grades looked set to resume this coming weekend.

However, the FAI have been informed that government guidance has forced the resumption to be put on hold.

By contrast, underage inter-county games are being allowed to resume from next weekend.
