Castlebar Mitchels are Mayo Minor A Football Champions after an 8-goal thriller in MacHale Park.

Castlebar's five goals came in the first half and left their north Mayo opponents with a mountain to climb.

At the break they led by 5-6 to 2-3.

There was no second half surge to help Stephenites get back into the game as Mitchels were much too dominant.

They held on for a convincing victory that will long in the memory of the west Mayo town.
