A man has been arrested in County Roscommon following the discovery of suspected cocaine yesterday.

Gardaí seized a quantity of suspected cocaine during a warranted search of a property in Castlerea on Friday January 18 2025.

The search was conducted by Gardaí from the Roscommon Crime Unit and the Divisional Drugs Unit, as part of Operation Tara.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and was detained at a Garda Station in Roscommon under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He has since been released, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The drugs that were seized are to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Investigations are ongoing.
