A man in his 30s was taken to hospital following an incident in Belmullet on Saturday night.

Gardaí received reports of an incident of assault that occurred on Barrack St. at approximately 11:40pm.

The man was brought to Mayo University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained as a result of the assault.

Investigations are ongoing.
