The official opening of the Oweninny Wind Farm at Moneynieran, in north Mayo takes place this Friday afternoon (March 8th).

It is Ireland’s largest onshore wind farm, and is a 50:50 joint venture between the ESB and Bord na Móna.

The Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan will perform the official opening at 1.15pm on Friday afternoon.

It combines both phases of the Oweninny Wind Farm project, which has an installed capacity of 192MW and can power just under 150,000 homes. The project represents a total investment by ESB and Bord na Móna of €320m.
