Providing downsized homes for older people is the best way to free up houses and deal with the housing crisis.

That's according to the charity Alone who say its members are dealing with mortgage arrears and a lack of security when renting larger homes.

They are encouraging the Government to provide suitable living spaces for older people which will make larger homes available for families who need them.
