A woman in Galway has become the 11th person to die on the roads in 2024.

Gardai­ and the Road Safety Authority are urging motorists to slow down.

6 drivers, 2 pedestrians, 2 passengers and a motorcyclist have been killed on the roads since the turn of the year.

A woman in her 80s died shortly after ten o'clock yesterday morning in a three car crash on the N17 between the villages of Ballindine and Milltown.

The road which was closed for a time yesterday, has since repened to traffic.

Road Safety Authority figures show 184 people were killed on Irish roads in 2023 - the highest number in almost a decade, and a 19 percent increase compared to 2022.

Both the RSA and Gardai­ are asking motorists to slow down and drive with caution, especially in icy and tricky conditions, like we're seeing out there this morning.
