The owner of the former JJ Gannon’s Hotel in Ballinrobe has withdrawn the property from the current proposal of housing up to fifty male international protection applicants.
Councillor Michael Burke broke the news this morning on his social media.
This comes following peaceful protests from Ballinrobe residents last night.
Cllr Burke released the following statement this morning:
“I have been in discussion with the owners of the former JJ Gannon’s Hotel.
“The owners have informed me that the lease is withdrawn for the current proposal as of this morning.
“I am delighted with this announcement and it’s a good result for all the people that turned out last night and has been in contact with me over the past 24 hours.
“Thank you everyone for the support.”
