A tractor driver seriously injured in a road crash on the N84 near Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, this morning has been transferred from Mayo University Hospital (MUH) to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin.

 The male victim sustained head and other injuries when his tractor was in collision with a van on the Castlebar Road, Ballinrobe, around 7.15 a.m.

The impact occurred close to the entrance of the McHale Engineering plant.

The N84, which is the main link between Castlebar and Galway City, has remained closed for most of the day as gardai carry out a forensic collision investigation at the scene.

Local diversions are in place.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N84 Castlebar Road between 7 and 7:30 a.m. are asked to make this footage available .
