Thousands are without power this morning after Storm Gerrit caused strong winds overnight.

A status orange alert for counties in the south, southeast and west is now over, however a status yellow alert for wind and rain remains in place for other parts.

Clare, Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo will see strong winds until 6 o'clock tomorrow morning.
