143 people have been arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving in the first week of the Garda Christmas and New Year Road Safety Campaign.

200 were caught using a mobile phone, and 50 people were fined for not wearing a seatbelt.

172 people have died on our roads since the start of the year.
