The cost of rebuilding a house has gone up by 12 per cent.

The figure is down from 21 per cent in 2021.

A report from the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland found a consistent increase in average rebuild costs across the country but notable differences between house types.

Consumers are being urged to check their homes are adequately insured using the SCSI's updated House Rebuild Calculator.
