The Environment Minister says drastic measures must be taken if Ireland wants to reach its climate targets.

The Climate Change Advisory Council predicts we'll miss the targets set in the first and second carbon budgets.

It suggests increasing the use of timber in construction as one way to reduce emissions.

Minister Eamon Ryan says the extreme weather seen across Europe is proof urgent action is needed.
