Tributes have been paid to a man who died following a boating incident at Lacken Pier on Sunday morning.

Gardaí, emergency services and the Coast Guard attended the scene of an incident which occurred in the water at Lacken Pier in Beltra.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:40am when two men had entered the water.

One of theses men, a man in his 70s, later passed away.

The second man, also in his 70s, has been receiving treatment at Sligo University Hospital.

Local Councillor Jarlath Munnelly spoke to Midwest Radio’s Rian Bailey, and paid tribute to the man who lost his life.
