Precautionary boil water notices are to be issued ahead of a strike by local authority workers tomorrow.

The industrial action by members of the Unite trade union will impact twelve local councils, including Galway City.

The Irish Independent reports the boil water notices in some areas may last for several days as Uisce Eireann will need to assess the impact of the work stoppages on water treatment plants.
