Mayo Sinn Fein have selected two more women candidates for the 2024 local elections.

Donna Hyland and Úna Morris were picked as candidates at the latest party selection convention at the TF Royal in Castlebar last Friday.

Donna Hyland will be their first candidate to stand in Castlebar LEA.

Donna is a nurse by profession and previously served two terms on the National Executive of the Irish Nurses and Midwives’ Organisation.

She holds the position of Castlebar Sinn Fein secretary and has played a key part in the party’s election campaigns in County Mayo.

Úna Morris will be their first candidate in to stand in Ballina LEA for next year’s local elections.

Úna is chair of Gaughan Lynn Stagg cumann in Ballina and is a member of Mayo Sinn Fein’s Officer Board.

She lives near Killala and was a union shop steward while working at the Western People and Irish Press Newspapers, and currently works in Ballina for Rose Conway-Walsh TD.
