At the Fine Gael selection convention for the Claremorris Local Electoral Area three candidates were selected to go forward to represent the party at next year's local elections.  They are sitting councillors Michael Burke and Tom Connolly and new candidate Alma Gallagher. Ms. Gallagher is a manager with social housing association Clár ICH.

The packed convention was attended by Minister of State at the Department of Finance, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill.

All candidates outlined their respective ideas to enhance their local areas and included an address by outgoing councillor John Cribbin.

Cllr. Cribbin was thanked for his dedicated service to his constituents and to his party during a career which spanned over 25 years.

The Local and European Elections is expected to take place in early June 2024 with the remaining selection conventions due to take place over the coming months.
