A civic reception will be held in recognition of Rachel Cummins, in recognition of winning the Ladies 21-23 World Championship in Irish Dancing in the Mayo County Council Office, Kilcolman Road, Claremorris at 2pm this afternoon.

Rachel Cummins from Claremorris, a past pupil of Mount St Michaels secondary school and a current teacher at Balla Secondary School, recently travelled to Montreal, Canada to participate in the Irish Dancing World Championships 2023.

Dancing for the Flynn O’Kane Academy in the age 21-23 bracket, Rachel overcame competition from dancers from USA, Canada, England, Mexico and more to claim first place on the podium and be named the world champion.
