
A Westport Councillor has urged people to make sure overgrown grass and weeds on roadsides are cut back to make the roads safer for all who use them.
Councillor John O'Malley says recently, overgrown grass was trimmed back on the road from Westport town to Carraholly, as the amount of overgrowth posed a danger to both motorists and pedestrians who use it.
The Independent councillor says that while hedge cutting is not permitted this time of year, this is only trimming back overgrowth and does not affect any areas where animals may be nesting.
