Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a man was arrested yesterday in Castlebar in connection with an incident of endangerment and an alleged assault.

The incident occurred yesterday evening at a quarter to 5.

A collision involving two vehicles occurred at Sion Hill, Castlebar and a man, aged in his 50s, was later arrested.

Members of the Armed Garda Support Unit attended the scene.

The man was brought to Castlebar Garda Station for questioning and his period of detention was extended over night. He has since been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
