Ballina Municipal District Management has confirmed its intention to meet with the Principal of Culleens National School, Ballina, to agree a programme of road safety works as recommended in the planning process for the new school.

The construction of the new 12 classroom multi-million euro Culleens National School is at an advanced stage.

The development has been welcomed by Fianna Fail councillor Annie Mae Reape.

The councillor says after a long wait for the new school she is delighted for the school community that works are progressing well. “The Killala Road is extremely busy with children accessing the school from various estates along the road and the new school when it opens will add significantly to the overall congestion.

She says she has been liaising with residents of the Killala Road and the Parents Association of Culleens National School for a number of months and is satisfied that the dangers that exist have been acknowledged and that a programme of works as recommended in the planning process for the new school building will be agreed in the coming weeks.
