There were 52 arrests for the sale and supply of drugs in county Mayo so far this year and that included a major seizure in Ballina last April.

These figures were provided by Garda Detective Inspector Denis Harrington to a meeting of the Mayo Joint Policing Committee on Friday.

Inspector Harrington said in the Ballina case, which included the cultivation of cannabis, two people had been arrested and charged.
