
Almost 200,000 euro fire damage was caused to a county Galway Rugby Club last weekend.
Corrib RFC in Headford is now trying to push forward following a fire at the club grounds that broke out early on Saturday evening last.
A new, purpose built, equipment shed went up in flames and units from the fire service attended the scene.
No one was injured but the shed was destroyed in the blaze, and with it a large amount of club merchandise and assorted equipment. The total value of the loss is estimated at just short of 200,000 euro.
Gardaí are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
At a meeting on Wednesday night at the Anglers Hotel in Headford it was decided that a major fund raising effort must now get underway if the club is to be up and running again from August, and the new season.
